Barry Reese is a freelance writer whose credits include: the Rook series, The All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z, D6 Space: The Fires of Amatsumara and Marvel Encyclopedia v. 5: The Marvel Knights. He has a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science and works as a professional Librarian in Georgia. He is married to artist Cari Reese and together they have a son named Julian!


New Titles Have Been Released! (9/23/10)

The Rook Volume Five (ISBN 978-0984476558) has just been released. Clocking in at over three hundred pages, this is the biggest volume yet! Featuring a cover and interior art by Anthony Castrillo and the legendary Fred Hembeck, this volume also features a special backup story written by Stacy Dooks!

Also, Barry's new character Lazarus Gray is being serialized by Pro Se Productions ( and the various short stories will be collected into a bound edition next year.

Finally, be on the lookotut for the first volume in Airship 27's new Mystery Men series, which should be out before the end of 2010. Barry's got a brand-new character named Dusk debuting in volume one!

The Rook Is About to Fly Again! (8/27/10)

Volume Five of The Rook Chronicles is in the final stages of production at Wild Cat Books. Look for it to be released sometime in September!

Also, Barry is working on a series of short stories featuring a new character named Lazarus Gray for Pro Se Productions! The shorts will run in their various magazines before being collected into a series of omnibus editions.

Six Gun Hell! (8/4/10)

The Summer 2010 issue of Six-Gun Western (Age of Adventure Publishing) is now out, with a new Masked Rider story from Barry! Barry's story is entitled "Six-Gun Hell!"

What's Going On? (7/6/10)

The sixth volume of The Rook Chronicles has been sent off to Wild Cat Books and will be published sometime in 2011. Entitled The Scorched God, the novel pits The Rook against the Nazi Doc Savage, Sun Koh!

Updates (4/28/10)

Lots of news to report on! Barry has a short story included in How The West Was Weird, published by PulpWork press. He's also completed work on The Damned Thing, an occult noir novel to be published by Wild Cat Books. He's currently working on a collection of short fiction entitled Killer Smile, which will be published by Age of Adventure Publishing and The Rook Volume Six, which will (as usual) come from the good folks at Wild Cat Books!

Barry has completed work on The Rook Volume Five and you can expect it from Wild Cat Books in the fall of this year. If you can't wait until then, check out How The West Was Weird from Pulpwork Press. There's a brand-new, never-before-published Rook story included! Barry has also begun work on a brand new novel, a noir piece of horror set in 1939 Atlanta.

The Crossroads Writers Conference was a blast and Barry plans to be back again next year!
